TOUKOISU

天然素材の魅力と伝統技術の調和により生まれた籐の小椅子のデザイン。TOUKOISUは、約100年続く
木内籐材工業の３代目で東京都伝統工芸士の木内秀樹氏が手掛ける暮らしに寄り添う籐の小椅子です。
従来の籐肘掛け椅子にはない、高さと奥行きを抑えた造りで、小さな空間にも置くことができます。
手仕事で丁寧に編み込まれた座面は材料の一部を剥ぎ取る「背取り」と斜めに編んでいく
「ハス目編み」と呼ばれる籐独自の伝統技法を使用し、美しさと快適な座り心地を実現しました。
また、立ち座りを楽にしてくれる高さのアームは、背を包むように繋がり、着座時の安定感を高めます。
直線と曲線がバランス良く配された造りは、住空間、飲食店、温浴施設等、あらゆるシーンで活躍が
期待出来ます。プロダクトに合わせて、カタログなどのグラフィックも手掛けました。

The design of the rattan small chair was born from the harmony of the charm of natural materials
and traditional techniques. TOUKOISU is handmade by Hideki Kiuchi, a traditional craftsman from
Tokyo who is the third generation of KIUCHI TOHZAI, which has a tradition of about 100 years.
It has a reduced height and depth, which is different from traditional rattan armchairs, so it can be
placed in small spaces. The seat is carefully woven by hand using a traditional technique unique to
rattan called “SEDORI”, in which a part of the material is peeled off, and “HASUMEAMI”', in which
the material is woven diagonally, creating a beautiful and comfortable seat. In addition, the arms are
at a height that makes it easier to sit and stand, and they wrap around the back of the person sitting,
increasing the sense of stability when sitting. With its well-balanced structure of straight lines and
curves, it can be used in a variety of settings, including living spaces, restaurants, and hot spring
facilities. We also worked on the graphic design of the catalog to match the product.
