TOUKOISU
The design of the rattan small chair was born from the harmony of the charm of natural materials and traditional techniques.

TOUKOISU is handmade by Hideki Kiuchi, a traditional craftsman from Tokyo who is the third generation of KIUCHI TOHZAI, which has a tradition of about 100 years. It has a reduced height and depth, which is different from traditional rattan armchairs, so it can be placed in small spaces. The seat is carefully woven by hand using a traditional technique unique to rattan called “SEDORI”, in which a part of the material is peeled off, and “HASUMEAMI”’, in which the material is woven diagonally, creating a beautiful and comfortable seat. In addition, the arms are at a height that makes it easier to sit and stand, and they wrap around the back of the person sitting, increasing the sense of stability when sitting. With its well-balanced structure of straight lines and curves, it can be used in a variety of settings, including living spaces, restaurants, and hot spring facilities. We also worked on the graphic design of the catalog to match the product.
