KO-GU Eau de Parfum
Package design for KO-GU, a fragrance brand that proposes scent as a tool for daily life.















KO-GU positions fragrance as a “tool” to enrich the lives of its users. It intentionally avoids excessive storytelling and visual expression, and values the space that allows users’ own senses and creativity to take part. Based on this concept, the package design uses only text as its minimal element and explores its presence.The composition, in which the text is regularly broken into lines every three letters, changes its impression depending on the viewing distance and the viewer’s awareness. When seen casually, it appears like a graphic form; when observed consciously, it can be read as information. Inspired by concrete poetry (visual poetry), this structure quietly responds to the environment in which it is used and to the sensibilities of each user.
As the core of the brand, the eau de parfum has been redesigned with a revised volume to accommodate various ways of use, and its form has been adjusted to achieve a sense of stability. The graphic described above is placed against a background of soft beige glass with a matte texture. The same composition is also reflected on the paper box through embossing and subtle beige printing. A card is enclosed inside the box, and the printed product name and information can be seen through two windows on the back. On the opposite side, in addition to the product name, a circle corresponding to the base of the bottle is printed, naturally inviting the user to place the bottle on it. Within these restrained details, a quiet sense of enjoyment is embedded. Its refined appearance also makes it suitable as a special gift.
