INPEX ATHLETE TEAM
Graphic design for a team at INPEX, one of Japan’s largest energy development company, that supports athletes and engages with their sporting activities. We designed the logo and the apparel.
The logotype is constructed entirely from italicized “I”, following the structure of the INPEX logo. It visualizes a team in which members with different individualities share the same vision and face the same direction. By embedding the “I” within each character (individual), the design expresses that every team member represents INPEX. A pattern consisting only of the “I” was also developed, referencing natural elements such as wind, waves, hills, and rock walls, as well as rhythm and speed—evoking sports performed in interaction with the natural environment. Applied to apparel, the design results in items that can be worn in both activity settings and everyday contexts.
